The Grand Ball of the Debutantes of Venice: the most awaited event for Post Millenials. Born at the time of Doge Ruzzini, will take place at the Scuola of San Giovanni Evangelista

On April 29th 2023 is the International Dance Day . In fact, in Venice, the most romantic city in the world, the most glamorous event of the year will be held in the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista: the Grand Debutante Ball of Venice, a dreamlike atmosphere of art, beauty, dance, music and star gourmet dishes. Let's retrace its history through the watchful eyes of Doge Ruzzini.

It’s the first decades of the eighteenth century, and Venice is a vibrant city. To be exact, one of the liveliest cities in Europe. Carlo Ruzzini comes into office as doge on June 2nd, 1732. The city is bustling and jubilant: artisans, boatmen, puppies, women and men in the paved calli, campi and campielli. Baskets, panniers, draperies and tabarri. Maidens gazing out from the balconies, master glassmakers, and gentlemen sipping coffee and schmoozing.  One only has to glance at the images and scenes of daily life documented in the paintings of vedutisti, such as Canaletto, for instance, but also Gregorio Lazzarini, who was commissioned for the frescoes in the inner halls of the Ruzzini's mansion, a palace which blueprint is attributed to Bartolomeo Manopola.

And it was during this era that the Debutante Ball, which has always been one of the most cosmopolitan events, first emerged. Today, just as then, it's one of the most anticipated events for young women who dream big.

THE EVENT: the program of the Gran Debutante Ball

It will be a magical and romantic night, in the heart of the most beautiful city in the world: the Gran Debutante Ball in Venice is covered with a magical light, passing through the iconic places of the city.

In San Marco square, ladies and knights will parade and live the coronation ritual.

Holding hands they will reach the historic literary café, Caffé Florian, the most ancient of the world, founded in 1720. Complemented by the reflections of the lagoon, on a traditional gondola, a “pope” will lead them from San Marco to the Scuola Grande di San Giovani Evangelista, to make a triumphal entry.

On the notes of the ChamberOrchestra4U symphony orchestra and its Director,  Maestro Silvia Casarin Rizzolo, playing the famous drum roll of the Radezky March,  the entrance parade will start. This is a tradition of the Venetian edition of this historic and beloved event. The opening Cameo is danced by a corp de ballet of excellence: the Dancers of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, who will perform in pas de deux and with some Debutantes.

Thanks to the chef of the stars Tino Vettorello, dinner time will be a perfect Gourmet  Gala. The large spaces and the inestimable artistic heritage of the Scuola di San Giovanni Evangelista represent the prestigious epilogue of a day full of expectations, feelings and obviously delicious culinary insights. Tino Vettorello will design the menu of the Gala Gourmet Dinner of the Grand Ball of the Debutantes of Venice inspired by the musical theme of the evening. The dinner will be held in the hall on the ground floor.  The accompanying wines will be from the Le Magnolie winery. The open bar will remain open throughout the evening.

The highly anticipated "Queen of the Waltz" and "King of the Waltz" Awards will then take place: the big moment of the most glamorous ball of the year: the Grand Debutante Ball  of Venice!
