Ruzzini Palace Hotel Hosts Alberto Zampieri: Art Transforms Your Stay

An exhibition by one of Venice’s most visionary contemporary artists — throughout our halls and salons.

Ruzzini Palace Hotel stands in the heart of Venice, inside a sixteenth-century palace shaped by centuries of history, beauty, and transformation. These ancient walls have long been a stage for the highest expressions of human creativity — and today they become the setting for a dialogue between past and present, between the timeless soul of the city and the vitality of contemporary art.

Today, the works of Alberto Zampieri inhabit the spaces of the palace with striking naturalness. His artistic practice moves fluidly between painting, sculpture, installation, and performance, transforming materials — marble, pigment, velvet, and tactile surfaces — into gateways to dreamlike worlds. Born in 1970 and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, Zampieri has developed an artistic language suspended between vision, memory, and imagination.

His surreal visions, apocalyptic urban landscapes, and portals of fire and light find their ideal counterpart within the frescoed rooms and golden reflections of the palace. For our guests, this means that art is not something to seek out — it is already here, around every corner, ready to transform a stay into an experience of authentic beauty.

“To look at an artwork by Alberto Zampieri is to allow yourself to be carried through images that seem to emerge from a dream.”

The exhibition explores the artist’s recurring themes: apocalyptic cityscapes burning beneath infernal skies, solitary figures crushed beneath monumental circular forms, and intimate figurative canvases charged with tension and color. Threading through them all is the motif of the circle-portal — at once gate, eye, and cosmic symbol — inviting the viewer to cross a threshold into another way of seeing.

Zampieri is also founder of Regina Art Gallery, located inside the sixteenth-century Palazzo Moro in Santa Croce, just a short walk from our hotel. The gallery functions as an evolving artistic project, placing contemporary art in direct dialogue with the centuries-old soul of Venice.
