Guizzi su tela – Fabiana Toffano’s Venice
Exhibition at the Ruzzini Palace | July 4 – November 30, 2025
With the artist: FABIANA TOFFANO
From July 4 to November 30, 2025, the Ruzzini Palace Hotel Venice is pleased to host the solo exhibition Flashes on Canvas, a vibrant journey through the art of Venetian painter Fabiana Toffano, curated by writer and curator Silvia Landi.
Set within the elegant spaces of our palace—once the residence of three Doges and today a boutique hotel in the heart of Venice—the exhibition presents twenty-two paintings that depict an intimate and luminous Venice, featuring little-known corners, arches and columns, and figures in period costume.
“I enthusiastically approved this exhibition, intentionally conceived away from the classic white walls of museums,” says director Sebastiano Cagnin. “Fabiana Toffano’s works blend seamlessly with the atmosphere of the palace, offering our guests a unique experience that combines hospitality and beauty.”
Toffano’s painting style stems from a rapid, instinctive gesture that captures bursts of color and unexpected plays of light on canvas—unplanned yet deeply evocative. Her exploration of the city becomes an emotional narrative, guided by the artist’s sensitive gaze.
“Every day I discover a new color combination or a new Venetian landscape to capture on canvas,” says Fabiana Toffano, “and the inspiration to create never leaves my brushes.”
Alongside the artist is the curatorial vision of Silvia Landi, who has been collaborating with Fabiana Toffano for years. Author of essays and artist biographies, Landi emphasizes in her exhibitions the dialogue between artworks and their setting, creating immersive experiences that connect the expressive force of contemporary painting with the historic character of its host locations.
In the critical text accompanying the exhibition, Landi highlights “the energy of the brushstroke and the artist’s ability to make light come alive among the Venetian columns, thanks to quick, instinctive strokes—uncontrolled yet never accidental.”
In recent years, Toffano has exhibited in major venues, including the Scuola Grande San Teodoro in Venice, the Guidi Museum in Forte dei Marmi, the Galleria Europa of the Municipality of Camaiore, and in February 2026 she will be the subject of a solo show at the Delizia Estense del Verginese in Gambulaga (Ferrara), featuring a series dedicated to Venetian masks.
Admission to the exhibition is free and open daily, offering all guests and city visitors a special opportunity to discover the art of Fabiana Toffano within the historic walls of Palazzo Loredan Ruzzini Priuli, now the Ruzzini Palace Hotel.
